Donegal Council Addresses Road Hazards Amid Storm Cleanup Efforts

As cleanup efforts commence following severe weather, Donegal County Council is warning residents of ongoing road hazards. The adverse conditions, exacerbated by Storm Amy, prompted a Red Alert from 16:00 to 18:00 on October 3, 2025. An Orange Wind Warning remains in effect until 22:00 tonight, followed by a Yellow Wind Warning lasting until noon tomorrow.
Reports indicate multiple trees have fallen across the county, obstructing or partially blocking key roads. In response, Donegal County Council crews are mobilising to address these blockages on major routes as a priority. Clean-up operations are scheduled to continue tomorrow, with crews ready to address any further issues as they arise.
Residents are strongly advised to avoid travel during the Orange warning period unless absolutely necessary. Additionally, caution is urged regarding the dangers posed by fallen power lines, which can present serious risks to safety.
For those wishing to stay informed about local conditions, Donegal County Council encourages residents to sign up for alerts by registering at www.mapalerter.com/donegal. Updates are also available through the Council’s official social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter.
As the storm continues to impact the region, the Council remains vigilant, focusing on ensuring public safety and restoring normalcy as quickly as possible. Local officials have emphasised that cooperation from the community is crucial during this challenging time.
