Dublin’s Weather Shifts to Persistent Rain During Budget 2026 Announcement

Patchy rain in Dublin is expected to intensify into persistent rainfall today as the government unveils its Budget 2026. According to Met Éireann, the national meteorological service, residents can anticipate a cloudy Tuesday morning with intermittent rain and drizzle. The rain is projected to become more persistent during the afternoon before clearing southeastwards later in the evening.
Temperatures will reach approximately 16°C, accompanied by light to moderate southwest winds, which are expected to shift to light northwest winds this evening. Despite a dry evening with clear spells, a significant drop in temperature is forecast, with lows plunging to around 4°C.
Weather Forecast for the Coming Days
Looking ahead, the remainder of the week promises brighter conditions. On Wednesday, the weather will be predominantly dry, featuring a mix of clouds and sunny intervals. Daytime temperatures will range from 14°C to 15°C in light to moderate southwest to west winds.
Wednesday night will see variable cloud cover and clear spells, with northern regions such as Ulster and parts of north Connacht experiencing cloudier conditions and potential light rain overnight. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall between 7°C and 12°C, with lighter winds providing a fresher feel along northern coasts.
Thursday’s forecast indicates a mostly cloudy day, particularly in northern and western areas, where patchy light rain or drizzle may occur. Conversely, southern and eastern regions are likely to remain mainly dry, enjoying a mix of clouds and bright spells. Temperatures will range from 13°C to 16°C with light to moderate west to northwest winds, refreshing coastal areas temporarily.
Thursday night will bring variable cloud amounts with isolated patches of drizzle, and temperatures will dip to between 6°C and 11°C. Mist and fog may develop in lighter breezes.
Friday is expected to start with a few spots of drizzle but will transition into a predominantly dry day. Cloud cover will persist, yet some bright or sunny spells are likely. Highs will be around 12°C to 15°C, with light westerly or variable breezes continuing.
The weekend outlook shows largely dry conditions with variable cloud cover and a greater likelihood of hazy sunny spells. Daytime temperatures will peak between 13°C and 16°C, while night-time lows may fall to between 6°C and 9°C, particularly lower in areas with prolonged clear breaks.
Early next week appears to continue the trend of mostly dry and settled weather, providing a welcome respite from the rain.
