BREAKING: Gardaí Conduct Second Raid on Limerick Halting Site

BREAKING: Gardaí in Limerick have launched a second raid on a halting site within a week, intensifying their crackdown on organized crime. This morning, officers targeted a site off the Dublin Road in Castletroy, following a similar operation last Tuesday on Childers Road.
Authorities confirmed the operation was part of ongoing investigations into a criminal group operating in Limerick. A garda spokesperson stated, “A number of temporary dwellings were removed from private land, in accordance with the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994, as amended, following a criminal complaint.”
A video circulating on social media captures a convoy of garda vans, jeeps, and unmarked cars entering the site this morning, underscoring the scale and urgency of the operation. While no arrests have been made and no property seized, the investigation remains active.
The latest raid marks a significant escalation following an incident of criminal damage reported at the same location last August 23. During that incident, a group of men armed with weapons vandalized a caravan and damaged a van, as shown in a video widely shared online.
A garda spokesperson noted at the time, “Damage was caused to a caravan. The location is under examination by crime scene investigators. No injuries have been reported to Gardaí at this time. Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing.”
With Gardaí ramping up their efforts, residents are on edge as the implications of these operations unfold. The focus remains on dismantling the organized crime networks believed to be operating in the area, with community safety at the forefront of these actions.
As authorities continue their investigations, all eyes are on Limerick to see how this situation develops in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates on this urgent story.
