URGENT ALERT: Shoppers are being warned to avoid a popular ready meal sold in Irish supermarkets due to serious health risks. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed the recall of a batch of Fit Foods Beef and Mash with Pepper Sauce over undeclared allergens that could endanger customers.

On October 13, 2023, the FSAI announced that specific packs of this 400g meal, identified by batch code 2528101 and a use by date of 20/10/2025, contain sesame, soya, and celery which are not listed on the packaging. This omission poses a significant risk for individuals with allergies or intolerances to these ingredients.

The FSAI has urged anyone who may have purchased this product from Tesco or Dunnes Stores to refrain from consuming it immediately. Retailers have been instructed to pull the affected products from shelves and display recall notices prominently.

This recall comes on the heels of another urgent announcement from the FSAI regarding Pekish chicken products. Also released on October 13, 2023, these products include chicken goujons, nuggets, and breaded fillets, all facing withdrawal due to incorrect cooking instructions on their labels.

The affected Pekish chicken goujons have all use by dates up to and including October 14, 2025, while the chicken nuggets and breaded fillets have use by dates of October 16, 2025 and October 18, 2025, respectively. Consumers are advised to check their freezers for these items and discard them.

Authorities have emphasized the necessity for wholesalers and distributors to notify customers about these recalls and to ensure that proper point-of-sale notices are displayed in stores.

This series of recalls highlights ongoing concerns about food safety and labeling accuracy. Customers are encouraged to stay informed about product recalls and to report any adverse reactions to food safety authorities.
