URGENT UPDATE: Major road works are set to disrupt traffic on the M17 and M18 motorways starting next week, as announced by Direct Route (Tuam) on behalf of TII (Transport Infrastructure Ireland). These essential works will impact both northbound and southbound lanes and are expected to last several weeks.

Beginning on Monday and continuing through Tuesday, lane closures will be in effect from 9 PM to 6 AM on the M18 Northbound, specifically between Junction 16 Gort and Junction 17 Kiltiernan. The following days, Wednesday and Thursday, will see further closures during the same hours on the M18 Northbound between Junction 17 Kiltiernan and Junction 18 Rathmorrissey.

The slip-road closures will be monitored at all times, with diversions in place to mitigate the impact on drivers. Authorities emphasize the importance of these upgrades for enhancing road safety and infrastructure.

Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel. The works are expected to significantly affect traffic flow, especially during peak hours.

Stay tuned for updates as this situation develops. It is crucial for drivers to remain informed and aware of the changing conditions on these vital routes.
