UPDATE: Irish activists aboard a Gaza-bound aid flotilla have been released from Israeli custody this morning, with Naoise Dolan and Dr. Veronica O’Kane confirmed safe and transferred to Jordan. The pair were among five Irish citizens captured by Israeli forces last week while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid.

The flotilla, which included Dolan and independent TD Barry Heneghan aboard the boat named Milad, was intercepted in the Mediterranean Sea. Heneghan returned to Ireland on Friday, as confirmed by Tanaiste Simon Harris, while the status of fellow activists Fionn MacArthur and Mutaz Jadaan remains unconfirmed.

A statement from Dolan’s family revealed she is “safe, unharmed, and will return to Dublin tomorrow.” A welcome gathering for Dolan is scheduled at Dublin Airport, Terminal 1, at 4 PM tomorrow, with her family extending an open invitation to the public.

The release of the activists highlights ongoing tensions in the region and the impact of international humanitarian efforts. This incident has drawn significant attention, emphasizing the importance of safe passage for humanitarian missions.

As events continue to unfold, the community is urged to show support for those involved. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
