Waterford Hosts AVEAconf25, Spotlighting Ireland’s Visitor Economy

Waterford is set to welcome over 200 leaders from Ireland’s tourism and hospitality sector for AVEAconf25, the annual national gathering of the Association of Visitor Experiences and Attractions. Scheduled for October 13 and 14, 2025, this event will highlight Ireland’s expanding visitor economy and the crucial role that attractions play in enhancing the country’s tourism landscape.

The theme for the 2025 conference, “Ireland’s Tourism Mosaic of Amazing Spaces,” aims to explore how innovation, leadership, and sustainability are reshaping the industry. Over the course of two days, delegates will engage in keynote sessions, panel discussions, and learning journeys at some of Waterford’s premier attractions, including Mount Congreve Estate and the House of Waterford Crystal. The programme will also feature networking events designed to encourage collaboration across the sector.

Key Themes and Research Insights

AVEAconf25 will feature expert-led discussions on various topics, including artificial intelligence, strategic resilience, marketing trends, and sustainable practices. A significant research initiative led by the National Centre for Tourism Policy Studies at the University of Limerick will examine visitor flow to the Cliffs of Moher and how Clare County Council is utilizing this data to enhance the visitor experience.

“Over one million people, representing more than 100 nationalities, have visited the Cliffs so far this year. This longitudinal research study has significant potential for other local authorities and tourism hotspots to learn from,” Ms. Flanagan remarked.

The event, hosted at the Tower Hotel Waterford, will provide an opportunity for tourism professionals from across the island to share insights, strengthen networks, and champion the future of Ireland’s visitor economy. The Association of Visitor Experiences and Attractions represents over 140 of Ireland’s most significant tourism sites and plays a leading role in supporting best practices, advocacy, and sector development.
