Over 50% of Pets Severely Distressed by Fireworks, Urgent Changes Needed

UPDATE: A startling new survey reveals that more than 50% of pets are “severely distressed” by fireworks, prompting urgent calls for stricter regulations. As the firework season approaches, 95% of pet owners express a strong desire for tighter controls, with 83% concerned about the impact on their beloved dogs and cats.
The Irish Blue Cross, represented by Corina Fitzsimons, confirms that 91% of pet owners notice their animals experiencing heightened stress during this time. The organization warns that without immediate action, the distress levels among pets will only escalate as fireworks become more common during celebrations.
“Pets are not just animals; they are family members,” Fitzsimons stated. “We must prioritize their well-being, especially during firework season.”
Reports indicate that the noise from fireworks can lead to severe anxiety in pets, manifesting in behaviors such as hiding, excessive barking, and even attempts to escape. This situation has raised significant concern among veterinarians and animal welfare advocates alike.
The survey findings, released today on October 19, 2025, highlight a growing awareness among pet owners about the negative consequences of fireworks. As celebrations continue, it is crucial for communities to recognize the distress these events cause for pets.
Pet owners are urged to take precautionary measures, such as providing a safe space for their pets during fireworks displays. Experts recommend creating a comfortable environment with calming music and familiar scents to help alleviate their anxiety.
Looking ahead, more discussions are expected across communities about implementing stricter guidelines on firework usage, particularly in residential areas. Pet owners are encouraged to voice their concerns to local authorities to effect change and protect their furry companions.
As the firework season approaches, the time for action is NOW. Share this urgent message to raise awareness and help ensure the safety and comfort of pets everywhere.
