Liam Cahill Secures Two-Year Extension as Tipperary Manager
Tipperary hurling manager Liam Cahill has officially been confirmed for an additional two years in his role, with the possibility of a third year. This decision follows Cahill’s successful completion of his initial three-year term, culminating in a notable victory over Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship (SHC) final held in July.
The Tipperary County Board approved the anticipated extension during their monthly meeting on Friday. This gathering had been postponed from Monday out of respect for the late football manager Philly Ryan, who passed away the previous weekend.
Cahill is expected to maintain his existing management team, which includes coach Michael Bevans, selectors Declan Laffan and TJ Ryan, and coaching support from David Herity. This consistency in leadership is seen as a key factor in building on the squad’s recent successes.
Looking ahead, Tipperary’s hurling team will travel to Cape Town for a team holiday immediately following the PwC All-Stars awards weekend. They are scheduled to receive their All-Ireland medals at a ceremony planned for the end of next month.
In addition to the celebratory events, Tipperary will participate in a challenge match against Limerick on December 13, 2023. This game, hosted at Fethard Town Park, aims to raise funds for the Dillon Quirke Foundation, further highlighting the team’s commitment to community involvement and charitable initiatives.
Cahill’s extension as manager signals confidence in his leadership and vision for the future of Tipperary hurling as they look to build on their recent triumphs.
