Dublin Fire Brigade Reports 276 Halloween Fire Calls in 24 Hours
BREAKING: Dublin Fire Brigade has confirmed a total of 320 fire calls from midnight on 31 October to midnight last night, with 276 of those related to Halloween festivities. While this number is alarming, it marks a significant drop from last year’s record of 494 fire calls, including 421 Halloween-specific incidents.
Officials from the Dublin City Council attribute this decrease to proactive measures aimed at enhancing public safety. In preparation for Halloween, city teams collaborated with An Garda Síochána to eliminate flammable materials, such as pallets and tyres, intended for illegal bonfires.
A spokesperson for the city council stated that the initiative’s success was bolstered by the “vigilance of local communities” and the public’s engagement. “Reports made through the Citizen Hub played a key role in identifying and removing potential bonfire stockpiles before they posed a threat,” the spokesperson added.
Additionally, the heavy rain in the area contributed to the reduced number of fire incidents this year. The spokesperson expressed gratitude to residents for their alertness and collaboration, stating, “Dublin City Council extends its sincere thanks to all residents who remained alert and engaged, and to our partners in An Garda Síochána for their continued collaboration in keeping our city safe.”
In light of these efforts, the council has organized family-friendly Halloween events throughout the weekend to foster community spirit and celebration.
Authorities underline the importance of continued vigilance as Halloween approaches, urging residents to report any suspicious materials that could lead to unsafe conditions. The collaborative efforts between the fire brigade, city council, and local communities highlight a successful strategy in ensuring public safety during this festive season.
With Halloween just days away, residents are encouraged to participate in community events while remaining aware of their surroundings. As the city celebrates safely, the efforts of Dublin Fire Brigade and local authorities have set a precedent for future Halloween festivities.
