UPDATE: Kilkenny musician Jack McHugh has just unveiled a mesmerizing music video for his new single, “I Could Do With You,” which premiered on his YouTube channel earlier this week. Funded by the Kilkenny Arts Office’s Arts Act Grant, this project showcases local talent and creativity from the vibrant Kilkenny arts scene.

The video was directed by Emily McGee, a filmmaker whom McHugh connected with during their training on the Channel 5 series The Inheritance. Their artistic collaboration blossomed during the Cult Collective’s monthly Scratch Night at the Home Rule Club, where they further developed their creative partnership.

Filmed at Woodstock Gardens in Inistioge, the video captures the essence of a “dream location,” providing stunning visuals that enhance the song’s emotional depth. McHugh praised the venue’s staff for their support, which included exclusive access to the tea rooms when closed to the public. This unique setting offered what McHugh described as “unique acoustics” that perfectly complemented the opening line of his song: “Some folks you meet for a coffee; keep it quick, talk quick, coffee goes cold.”

With his poetic lyricism and soulful vocals, McHugh’s music resonates deeply, making him a standout artist in Kilkenny. His song “I Still Get It” became an anthem in local efforts to save the Smithwick’s Experience back in 2021, further solidifying his impact on the community.

As fans eagerly await more from McHugh, this latest release reinforces his status as a key player in the local music scene.
