The Saw Doctors Announce Urgent UK Tour Dates This November!
UPDATE: The iconic Irish band, The Saw Doctors, just announced their highly anticipated UK tour, set to kick off on November 7, 2023. This marks nearly 40 years since their formation in 1986, and fans are eager to witness their legendary live performances across multiple cities.
The tour will include shows in Nottingham, London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, as well as their hometown of Dublin and Belfast. Tickets are selling fast for this remarkable return, following a successful comeback tour in 2023 after a five-year hiatus that delighted fans with sold-out shows in major cities.
In a recent interview, band member Leo Moran shared his excitement: “We’re getting to play in beautiful places. They’re all venues where you can connect deeply with the audience.” The Saw Doctors have gained a cult following over the years, particularly in the UK, where songs like N17 have become anthems of nostalgia and identity for the Irish diaspora.
Originally formed in Tuam, Co. Galway, The Saw Doctors first gained traction after supporting notable acts like The Waterboys. Their hit single, I Useta Lover, topped the Irish charts for nine consecutive weeks in 1990, and remains the country’s all-time best-selling single. The band’s journey to fame was anything but straightforward; their signature song, N17, struggled initially but eventually solidified their status in Irish music history.
The band’s upcoming tour will feature their latest single, Same Oul’ Town, recorded with the 45-piece RTE Concert Orchestra. Moran expressed how special it was to revisit the track, highlighting the privilege of collaborating with such a talented orchestra. “It’s a long road from The Quays to now, and we could never have envisioned this,” he said.
Fans can expect not only classic hits but also a renewed energy from the band, who feel rejuvenated after their time away. “We had a huge appetite for it and a greater appreciation of making music together,” Moran added, emphasizing the excitement surrounding their return.
The Saw Doctors will perform at various venues, including Nottingham’s Rock City on November 7, London’s Eventim Apollo on November 8, and Glasgow’s Barrowlands on November 14 and 15. The tour continues through December 12 in Belfast, and fans are urged to secure their tickets quickly as demand is high.
As the band prepares for this remarkable milestone, they reflect on their journey and the profound connection they have with their audience. “It’s incredible to see the younger generation enjoying our music,” Moran remarked, pointing to the diverse crowds at recent festivals like Electric Picnic.
With their rich history and heartfelt performances, The Saw Doctors are ready to captivate audiences once again. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this iconic tour, celebrating almost four decades of music that resonates with fans old and new.
