Clarinbridge Wins Big at 2025 Pride of Place Awards in Limerick
UPDATE: Clarinbridge has just been declared the winner of the ‘300 – 1,000 Population’ category at the 2025 IPB Pride of Place Awards, held last night at the Strand Hotel in Limerick. This prestigious recognition highlights the village’s exceptional community development initiatives and sets a benchmark for civic engagement across Ireland.
Nominated by Galway County Council, Clarinbridge stood out among numerous contenders thanks to its committed partnerships with local organizations, including the Clarinbridge Men’s Shed and SCCUL Sanctuary. The village’s vibrant events, such as the Clarinbridge Market Day and Halloween on the Green, were pivotal in showcasing its community spirit and collaborative efforts.
While Clarinbridge claimed victory, the Marconi Men’s Shed in Clifden also represented Galway County in the competition, competing in the ‘Community Wellbeing’ category. Although not a winner, Marconi Men’s Shed received commendation for its innovative support of male family carers and its promotion of health and wellbeing in the Connemara region.
This victory adds to Galway’s impressive history in the Pride of Place competition. Last year, Kinvara Tidy Towns and Williamstown were recognized as runners-up in their respective categories. In 2023, the Creggs Rural Development Group secured a win in the Climate Action and Biodiversity category, further solidifying Galway’s reputation for community excellence.
The Pride of Place Awards, organized by Co-operation Ireland and sponsored by IPB Insurance, celebrate voluntary groups that demonstrate outstanding commitment to improving their local areas through collaboration and civic engagement.
With Clarinbridge’s win making headlines, the community’s dedication to progress and unity stands as an inspiring example for others. As the news spreads, the village’s triumph is expected to foster greater community involvement and encourage similar initiatives across the region.
Stay tuned for more updates on community developments and the impact of Clarinbridge’s recognition on local initiatives.
