Alcorn’s Garden Centre & Mac’s Deli Win Big at Letterkenny Awards
UPDATE: Two of Letterkenny’s most prominent businesses, Alcorn’s Garden Centre and Mac’s Deli, were honored with prestigious awards at the 2025 Letterkenny Chamber Business Awards held on October 20, 2025, at the Mount Errigal Hotel. The event celebrated the significant contributions these businesses have made to the local community and economy.
In a stunning recognition, the Business Person of the Year award was jointly awarded to the Alcorn siblings—John, Clive, and Caroline Alcorn. They have successfully carried on their family’s legacy, transforming Alcorn’s from a small enterprise into a true Donegal landmark. Their innovative expansion includes not just a flourishing garden centre but also the newly opened Tropical World, a zoo that has captivated visitors and families alike.
Meanwhile, Eunan and Rachel McIntyre of Mac’s Deli received the Hall of Fame Award. This beloved deli, located on Letterkenny’s High Road, has grown to employ around 30 people through its café, bakery, and catering services. The McIntyres’ unwavering commitment to quality and community service has solidified Mac’s Deli as a staple in the area, making them well-deserving of such recognition.
The awards ceremony also honored 14 additional businesses and individuals for their achievements, underscoring the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit in Letterkenny. Jimmy Stafford, Chamber President, emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses in his opening remarks, stating that these awards highlight the hard work and dedication of the community.
The event, which took place just days ago, showcased a variety of categories, including Excellence in Innovation, Workplace of the Year, and Outstanding Small Business. The recognition of these businesses not only celebrates their successes but also offers inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.
As the community continues to rally behind its local businesses, attention now turns to how these award-winning companies will further impact Letterkenny’s economy. The next steps for the Alcorns may include additional expansions at their garden centre, while the McIntyres might explore new menu offerings or community engagement initiatives.
Stay tuned for more updates as these remarkable businesses continue to shape the landscape of Letterkenny. The full list of winners and additional highlights from the event are available through local news outlets.
This year’s awards serve as a powerful reminder of the resilience and innovation present in Letterkenny’s business community, encouraging residents to support local enterprises now more than ever.
