Five Arrested as Gardaí Seize €2.1 Million in Drugs
BREAKING: Authorities have arrested five individuals following a major drug bust in Dublin and Wicklow, where drugs valued at an estimated €2.1 million were seized. The operation unfolded yesterday, with police executing searches at residential addresses, leading to the confiscation of 98 kilos of cannabis and 2 kilos of cocaine.
The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Ballymun and Balbriggan Drug Units, conducted the searches as part of Operation Tara, aimed at tackling organized crime in the region.
As part of the arrests, a man in his 40s is being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, while three women—one in her 40s and two in their 30s—and a man in his 30s are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. All five suspects are currently being questioned at Garda stations in the eastern region.
This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and organized crime in Ireland, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to cracking down on illegal drug operations. The seizure of such a large quantity of drugs not only poses a threat to public safety but also underscores the extent of the drug trade in these areas.
