A well-appointed home in Ballinhassig, Co Cork, is now on the market for €520,000, showcasing a blend of stylish indoor living and exceptional outdoor spaces. Located at 23 Gleann Órga, this four-bedroom, three-bathroom property spans 152 sq m (1,636 sq ft) and offers a unique lifestyle appeal, particularly for families seeking a balance of comfort and functionality.

The owners, Franziska Hintner Lazarski and her husband, Sebastian Lazarski, transformed their home into a retreat that reflects their love for nature. A key feature is a high-quality Hanley’s garden cabin, which serves as both a workspace and a cozy man cave, complete with a bar counter, shelving, and inviting decor. “My husband had always dreamt of having a log cabin,” Franziska shared, emphasizing the cabin’s dual purpose in their lives.

Outdoor living is a central theme for the couple. They designed a deck that allows for year-round barbecuing, thanks to a protective roof overhang. This outdoor feature aligns with their appreciation for nature, encapsulated in the German term Naturverbundenheit, meaning “connectedness to nature.” The couple installed a drainage system to ensure they could enjoy their garden even during the rainy winter months.

Franziska and Sebastian also focused on creating low-maintenance outdoor spaces. They chose easy-to-care-for shrubs in raised planters and set aside a small yard behind the log cabin for tools. The front of the property features a widened driveway accommodating two SUVs, alongside a small patio hidden behind hedging, perfect for their daughter Matilda’s sandbox.

Upon purchasing the property as a new build in 2019, the couple dedicated significant effort to enhancing the interior. “It was just before COVID arrived and that gave us time to do a lot. It was a massive opportunity,” Franziska explained. Their renovations included painting, decorating, and installing high-spec bathrooms, as well as flooring the attic with a thermal ladder designed to prevent drafts.

Now fully updated, the three-storey semi-detached home is being listed by DNG Galvin, with agents Majella and Caroline Galvin noting its popularity among families. The property benefits from an impressive A3 energy rating and underfloor heating on the ground floor, making it an attractive option for potential buyers. “There’s a lot of families from Cork City interested. They appreciate the good school catchment area and proximity to both Cork City’s western suburbs and Kinsale,” the agents stated.

As the Lazarskis prepare to relocate to Ballinspittle for even more outdoor opportunities, they leave behind a turnkey home designed for both comfort and connection to nature. The guide price for this appealing property is €520,000, offering a unique blend of stylish living and outdoor enjoyment.
