Four Arrested as €4.4 Million Drug Seizure Rocks Dublin
BREAKING: Four men have been arrested following a major drugs seizure worth over €4.4 million in South Dublin and County Kildare. The operation, led by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau in collaboration with Revenue’s Customs Service, took place on July 14, 2023, and is part of an ongoing intelligence-led investigation.
Authorities confirm that a staggering 220 kilograms of herbal cannabis, valued at €4.4 million, was confiscated during the operation. An additional 10.5 kilograms of cannabis, worth approximately €210,000, along with €10,000 in cash, was seized in follow-up searches conducted by An Garda Síochána.
The arrested individuals, all in their 30s, are currently being held at Garda stations in Dublin and Kildare. Under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, they can be detained without charge for a maximum of seven days subject to court orders.
Authorities state that the confiscated drugs will undergo forensic examination and analysis as investigations continue. This significant haul underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Ireland and highlights the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement efforts.
With such a large quantity of drugs removed from the streets, community safety is expected to improve, but officials stress that vigilance remains paramount. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
