My Bloody Valentine Surprises Fans with Dublin Gig Ahead of Comeback
In an unexpected turn of events, shoegaze rock band My Bloody Valentine held a surprise concert at Dublin’s National Stadium on November 19, 2023. This performance marked the band’s first non-festival show in Ireland since 1992 and their first live appearance together since 2018.
Initially scheduled for a smaller venue, the concert was relocated to the 2,000-capacity arena due to overwhelming demand from fans. Performing under the alias Isn’t Anything, a reference to their debut album released in 1991, the band delivered a memorable 19-song set that included beloved tracks such as “Only Shallow,” “Soon,” and “Feed Me with Your Kiss.” Notably, they debuted “Off Your Face,” a song from their 1990 Glider EP.
Anticipation Builds for Official Comeback
This secret gig serves as a precursor to their highly anticipated official comeback, where My Bloody Valentine is set to headline the 3Arena in Dublin on November 22, 2023. Fans eager to attend the larger event still have an opportunity, as a limited number of resale tickets for the 3Arena show are available through ticketmaster.ie.
The surprise concert not only reignited excitement among long-time fans but also showcased the band’s enduring appeal. The setlist, which was well-received, included tracks spanning their extensive discography. Here is the full setlist from the National Stadium performance:
