Urgent Update: Jack Boyd Sentenced for Drug Supply in Derry
UPDATE: A Derry man has been sentenced today for serious drug possession and supply offences. Jack Boyd, aged 28, received a four-year sentence at Derry Crown Court, with two years to be served in prison and two years on licence.
The court heard that on May 4, 2024, at approximately 7:20 PM, Boyd was stopped by police while driving in Derry. Officers discovered incriminating evidence of his involvement in the supply of Class B drugs after searching his vehicle. Following his arrest, police continued their investigation, leading to further developments.
On July 26, 2024, at around 9:50 PM, Boyd was again apprehended while driving, this time on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. A search of his property uncovered multiple mobile phones, a significant amount of cash, and additional suspected Class B drugs. He was charged with several offences, including possession and intent to supply both Class A and B drugs.
This case highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the Derry area, particularly involving cross-border organized crime networks. Authorities stress the importance of community safety and the need for continued vigilance against drug-related activities.
