Urgent Update: €2.3 Million Drug Bust at Dublin Airport
BREAKING: In a stunning operation, Revenue Officers at Dublin Airport seized drugs valued at approximately €2,307,000 within just a few days. These operations, conducted on November 20 and November 23, have revealed significant attempts to smuggle illegal substances into Ireland.
On November 20, during routine profiling, officers uncovered 0.8 kilograms of Crystal Methamphetamine hidden in boxes marked as “Food.” This shipment, valued at around €48,000, originated from Spain and was destined for an address in Dublin.
Just three days later, on November 23, a larger haul was intercepted. Thanks to the keen instincts of Revenue’s drug detector dog, Maggie, officers seized 112.95 kilograms of herbal cannabis, valued at an astonishing €2,259,000. This cannabis, wrapped in vacuum-sealed packages and concealed in metal boxes labeled as “Electric Box,” was traced back to Thailand and intended for Northern Ireland.
Authorities are emphasizing the importance of these operations as part of their ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and the illegal drug trade. Investigations remain active as officials work to dismantle trafficking networks.
If you have any information related to smuggling activities, the public is encouraged to contact Revenue confidentially at 1800 295 295.
These significant seizures underscore the urgent need for vigilance in the fight against drug importation. As the situation develops, authorities will continue to keep the public informed on further findings and actions taken to ensure community safety.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story, as these operations highlight the ongoing battle against the trafficking of illegal drugs in Ireland and beyond.
