Irish actor Ruth Codd, known for her role in the reality show The Celebrity Traitors, has announced she has undergone a second leg amputation. The 29-year-old previously had her first leg amputated at the age of 23 due to complications from a football injury sustained when she was just 15 years old.

Codd shared the news with her followers on TikTok, stating, “Hi guys, so I have some good news and some bad news.” She described the good news as a return to making content from her parents’ house. The bad news, however, is that she can no longer film in front of her favorite blue floral wallpaper as she recovers from her recent below-knee amputation.

In her update, Codd humorously mentioned that she has a new wheelchair, which she affectionately named “Fat Tony.” She joked about its speed, saying, “She has the top speed of f*** all per hour, especially if there’s a step involved.”

Reflections on Reality TV and Career Journey

Codd gained public recognition as the second contestant eliminated in the first season of The Celebrity Traitors, where she competed alongside notable figures such as TV presenter Jonathan Ross, singer Cat Burns, and comedian Alan Carr. Reflecting on her experience in the competition, she remarked, “to say it’s been surreal … I’m not sure that I’m not about to be woken up from a very weird dream.”

Carr ultimately emerged as the winner of the series, successfully deceiving fellow contestants, including historian David Olusoga and actor Nick Mohammed. He won £87,500 for his charity, Neuroblastoma UK, which focuses on researching and raising awareness of a rare cancer.

Codd’s acting career began on TikTok, where she initially gained popularity by posting comedic videos featuring nuns during the COVID-19 pandemic. In just a year, she amassed over 20 million likes on her content after losing her job as a professional make-up artist and barber. She has since appeared in Netflix’s mystery thriller series The Midnight Club and the horror miniseries The Fall Of The House Of Usher.

Through her personal challenges and public journey, Codd continues to inspire many with her resilience and humor. Her latest update serves as a reminder of the strength she has shown in facing adversity while maintaining her commitment to her creative pursuits.
