West Side of Galway Launches First-Ever Christmas Park and Ride
UPDATE: The west side of Galway is set to launch its first-ever Christmas Park and Ride service, providing a much-needed transport option for holiday shoppers. Starting on Friday, December 19, residents will be able to park for free at Corrib Village and take a convenient bus into the city center, making holiday shopping easier than ever.
This new service, announced by the University of Galway, is aimed particularly at residents along the N59 route and surrounding areas, according to Fine Gael City Councillor Eddie Hoare. “This will be of huge benefit to our community, especially during the busy Christmas season,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of easy access to the city.
Simultaneously, a scaled-back Park and Ride service will continue to operate on the east side of Galway at ATU Galway on the Dublin Road. Earlier this year, the traditional bus service between Galway Racecourse and the city center was discontinued due to unsustainable losses. However, Fine Gael City Councillor Shane Forde assures that the parking at ATU Galway is ideally located for bus routes into the city.
Both the west and east side Park and Ride services will be operational until Christmas Eve, providing essential transportation for those eager to enjoy the festive season. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this service as it promises to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance accessibility during one of the busiest times of the year.
With this initiative, Galway aims to create a more enjoyable shopping experience while promoting community engagement and sustainability. Stay tuned for more updates as the holiday season approaches!
