Galway Projects Receive Urgent €634,000 in CLÁR Funding
BREAKING: Over €634,000 in urgent CLÁR funding has been allocated to ten community projects across Galway, addressing critical infrastructural needs in rural areas. Officials announced this significant investment today, aiming to support communities that have faced serious depopulation issues.
The largest allocation, totaling €100,000, goes to the Portumna Chamber of Commerce. This funding will enhance facilities with new changing rooms and toilet facilities in central Portumna, a much-needed upgrade for local sports and community events.
Other beneficiaries include clubs and groups from various Galway locations such as Abbeyknockmoy, Cill Chiaráin, Eyrecourt, Kilchreest, Killimordaly, Kiltartan, Lawrencetown, Menlough-Skehana, and Williamstown-Glenamaddy, each receiving vital support for their projects.
Here’s a quick overview of the funding allocations:
– **Abbeyknockmoy**: Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club & Community Grounds – €54,900 for car park enhancement.
– **Cill Chiaráin**: Páirc Spraoi Iorras Aithneach – €25,022 for playground and sensory area development.
– **Eyrecourt**: Meelick Eyrecourt GAA – €65,000 for community sports ground enhancement.
– **Kilchreest**: St. Thomas’ GAA and Camogie Club – €65,000 for an extended walkway and parking accessibility.
– **Killimordaly**: Killimordaly GAA Club – €65,000 for an outdoor gym installation and parking upgrades.
– **Kiltartan**: Kiltartan National School – €65,000 for a new Multi-Use Games Area.
– **Lawrencetown**: Lawrencetown Community Development CLG – €65,000 for community pitch facility upgrades.
– **Menlough**: Skehana Community Development – €65,000 for car park and footpath upgrades.
– **Williamstown**: Glenamaddy Soccer Club – €65,000 for upgrades to existing Astro/Multi-Use Games Area.
This substantial funding is a lifeline for these communities, enhancing local infrastructure and promoting social engagement. As rural areas struggle with population decline, such investments are critical to revitalizing community spirit and facilities.
Residents and community leaders are now urged to mobilize and begin the implementation of these projects, which are expected to boost local economies and improve quality of life in these regions.
Stay tuned for further updates on how these projects unfold and their impact on Galway’s communities. This funding represents not just a financial boost but a renewed commitment to rural development and community resilience.
