Kilkenny Launches Urgent Fundraiser to Help Families This Christmas
UPDATE: The annual ‘Mayor’s Annual Christmas Charity Fundraiser’ has officially launched in Kilkenny, aimed at delivering vital support to families facing food insecurity this holiday season. Mayor Cllr John Coonan initiated the urgent appeal to assist those “struggling to put a meal on the table,” reflecting the pressing needs of the community.
Earlier today, Cllr Coonan partnered with the Kilkenny Lions Club and local voluntary organizations, including St Vincent De Paul, to kick off the Lions Spirit of Christmas Hamper Appeal. This initiative seeks to raise crucial funds to provide Christmas hampers for families in need, an effort especially significant during these challenging financial times.
“Christmas can be a frighteningly difficult time for many in our community,” Cllr Coonan expressed, emphasizing the harsh realities faced by countless families. “Struggling to put a meal on the table or buy a small gift for a child is a harsh reality for far too many families and individuals across Kilkenny.” His plea underscores the urgency of contributing to this cause, as every donation can create a “massive ripple effect” in the community.
Donations can be made easily through the ‘Go Fund Me Page’ or sent directly to ‘Mayor John Coonan’ at County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny. Every contribution helps ensure that vulnerable families receive the support they desperately need during the holiday season.
This year’s fundraiser builds on the efforts launched last October at the Newpark Hotel, where Cllr Coonan was joined by Lions President Maurice Regan and long-time supporter Brian Cody. Together, they aim to make a substantial impact on the lives of those most in need.
As the festive season approaches, the need for community support has never been more urgent. Authorities urge residents to participate in this heartfelt initiative, ensuring that every family in Kilkenny can enjoy a joyous Christmas.
