Inverin Students Triumph in National Sustainability Competition
UPDATE: A group of 16 students from Inverin has just won the prestigious World of Work Sustainability Project competition, igniting excitement within their community. The students from Coláiste Cholmchille triumphed in the Youth Engagement in Sustainability (YES) campaign with their impactful project, titled “Helping Pollinators in the Environment.”
The initiative involved collecting deposits from returned bottles to fund the creation of pollinator-friendly gardens in their local area. This innovative approach not only raises awareness about sustainability but also actively contributes to enhancing biodiversity in their community.
Student and group member Max Mac Donnacha expressed immense pride in the project’s community impact, stating, “We are thrilled to see our efforts recognized and hope to inspire others to engage in sustainability.”
This victory highlights the vital role of youth in addressing environmental challenges and showcases the potential for grassroots initiatives to foster real change. The competition is a testament to the creativity and commitment of young people dedicated to making a difference.
As news of their achievement spreads, the students plan to continue their efforts, expanding their projects and engaging more community members in sustainability practices. The impact of their work is expected to ripple throughout Inverin, making it a model for other communities.
Stay tuned for more updates as the students set their sights on future sustainability endeavors and share their journey with peers across the nation.
