Thomas Markle Hospitalized in Intensive Care After Emergency Surgery

Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle, has been admitted to intensive care following an emergency operation in the Philippines. The 81-year-old was transported to a local hospital after experiencing a serious health crisis at his residence on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. According to his son, Thomas Jr., the elder Markle underwent a three-hour surgery on Thursday and remains in critical condition.

After several scans, doctors determined that Thomas Markle’s life was in “imminent danger,” prompting the urgent transfer to a larger medical facility. Thomas Jr. recounted the harrowing experience of rushing his father to the hospital, where immediate action was necessary. “They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the centre of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery,” he said.

Thomas Markle is now scheduled for another operation to remove a blood clot, further complicating his health situation. His family has expressed deep concern, with Thomas Jr. asking for prayers and positive thoughts from around the world. “I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts,” he stated.

Health Challenges and Family Estrangement

For several years, Thomas Markle has faced numerous health issues, including two heart attacks before Meghan’s marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. In 2022, he suffered a severe stroke, which left him unable to speak for several months. Currently, Thomas Markle resides in a £500-a-month flat on the island of Cebu, over 7,000 miles from Meghan and Prince Harry in Los Angeles. He has never met his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. Despite his ongoing health struggles, he made the decision to move to Southeast Asia in January 2023, seeking a quieter life in a region he fondly remembers from his youth.
