UPDATE: A total of 20 farmers from Kilkenny have officially graduated from the Tirlán and Baileys Sustainable Farming Academy today, marking a significant milestone in sustainable agriculture education. This graduating class, which includes notable farmers like James O’Brien from Kells, John Flood from The Rower, and Róisín Cummins from Inistioge, received their diplomas in Environment, Sustainability, and Climate from University College Cork (UCC).

The graduation ceremony, held earlier today, highlighted the urgent need for innovative farming practices amid increasing environmental challenges. The Academy, now in its third year, is committed to empowering family farms with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster sustainable agricultural methods.

Farmers have undergone a rigorous year-long program aimed at equipping them with essential tools to implement effective environmental strategies. Lisa Koep, Chief ESG Officer at Tirlán, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Our graduates are now leaders in implementing sustainable practices that not only benefit their farms but also the environment at large.”

This program is pivotal not just for the farmers involved but for the broader community, as it directly addresses pressing issues surrounding climate change and sustainability in agriculture. The Tirlán and Baileys Sustainable Farming Academy continues to play a crucial role in shaping the future of farming by promoting positive environmental actions.

As these farmers take their newfound knowledge back to their fields, the focus now shifts to the impact they will have on local ecosystems and agricultural practices. Expect to see ongoing developments as these graduates begin to implement their sustainable practices and share their experiences with peers.
