Cloudflare Faces Major Outage, Disrupting Zoom and Canva Access
BREAKING: Cloudflare has experienced a significant outage this morning, disrupting access to popular platforms including Zoom and Canva. The incident, reported at 9:30 AM on December 5, 2025, lasted until 10:14 AM, affecting countless users and businesses globally.
The outage has sparked widespread concerns, with Cloudflare’s chief technology officer, Dane Knecht, acknowledging the impact in a statement. “These kinds of incidents, and how closely they are clustered together, are not acceptable for a network like ours,” Knecht remarked. He apologized for the disruption, which he said affects both customers and the broader Internet community.
This marks the second outage for Cloudflare in just two months, raising alarm bells among cybersecurity experts. Richard Ford, CTO at Integrity360, emphasized the systemic risks associated with reliance on a limited number of infrastructure providers. “When a provider like this fails, the ripple effects hit far more than just a few sites,” Ford stated.
Today’s incident underscores the fragility of critical infrastructure. Businesses that depend solely on a single provider face significant risks, according to Ford. He urges companies to consider implementing multi-CDN configurations and hybrid cloud setups to avoid future disruptions.
Cloudflare’s status update page reported the issue, which was resolved quickly, but the fallout from such outages can be extensive. Users reported difficulties across various services, illustrating how interconnected the Internet has become. This incident serves as a stark reminder for organizations about the importance of having contingency plans in place.
As the situation unfolds, businesses are urged to reassess their reliance on singular providers for essential services. The tech community is watching closely for any further developments from Cloudflare as they work to implement measures to prevent future outages.
For users affected by today’s disruption, the impact is immediate and frustrating. This incident not only highlights vulnerabilities within major tech infrastructures but also the pressing need for businesses to adopt more resilient strategies in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
Stay tuned for updates as Cloudflare addresses these critical issues and implements new strategies to enhance its network reliability.
