New Cheese Factory Set for Kilkenny City, Boosting Local Economy
A new cheese factory is set to be constructed in Kilkenny City, representing a significant development in the local economy. The factory, which is estimated to cost £150,000, will be built on a nine-acre site adjacent to the Mental Hospital along Dublin Road. It is projected to create approximately 20 jobs upon opening.
This venture is a collaborative effort involving 35 creameries from Kilkenny, Tipperary, and Laois, joining forces with the Carrick-on-Suir based Miloko Co-op Society Ltd. The partnership aims to enhance local dairy production and promote economic growth in the region.
The new facility is expected to not only support local dairy farmers but also contribute to the community by providing stable employment opportunities. As the factory begins operations, it will play a crucial role in meeting the demand for cheese products while promoting sustainable practices within the dairy industry.
The construction timeline for the factory remains to be finalized, but local officials have expressed optimism about the project’s potential impact on Kilkenny City. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to invest in local agriculture and food production, ultimately fostering economic resilience in the area.
In addition to the factory, Kilkenny City is experiencing other developments, including the upcoming opening of a new urban park, which is anticipated to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
This cheese factory project marks a promising step forward for Kilkenny’s agricultural sector, showcasing the collaborative spirit among local businesses and the commitment to strengthening the regional economy.
