Passenger Tackled on EasyJet Flight After Bomb Threat Shouts

Dramatic scenes unfolded aboard an easyJet flight from Luton to Glasgow on July 27, 2025, when a male passenger began shouting about a bomb, prompting an emergency landing. The incident occurred shortly after the plane took off, with passengers capturing the chaos on their mobile devices.
Witnesses reported that the man, a 41-year-old, emerged from the restroom with his hands raised, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” He then alarmingly declared, “I’ve got a bomb,” followed by threats against the United States and specific individuals. One passenger, who chose to remain anonymous, described the situation as initially confusing, stating, “I thought he was joking, I mean it’s a weird joke.”
As panic set in, several passengers swiftly intervened, restraining the man on the cabin floor. Footage shows individuals working together to subdue him, demonstrating the quick response of those on board.
The pilot made the decision to land at Glasgow Airport, where police were waiting. Upon landing, officers boarded the aircraft and arrested the suspect without further incident. According to Police Scotland, the man was taken into custody for causing a disturbance on the flight, which landed around 08:20 AM.
An easyJet spokesperson confirmed the details of the incident, stating, “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard.” The spokesperson emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is the airline’s top priority and that crew members are trained to handle emergency situations effectively.
The incident has drawn attention on social media, with videos of the chaos circulating widely. Police Scotland noted that counter-terrorism officers are currently reviewing the footage to assess the situation further.
A spokesperson for the police indicated that investigations are ongoing, adding, “At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved.” The swift response of both the flight crew and passengers likely prevented a more serious outcome, highlighting the importance of vigilance in public spaces.
As authorities continue their investigation, the incident serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges of ensuring safety in air travel.
