Limerick’s Quay Books Receives €5,000 Grant for Community Initiative

Quay Books, an independent bookstore located on Sarsfield Street in Limerick City, has been awarded a grant of up to €5,000 from the Books At One Community Fund 2025. This funding is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering community engagement through innovative programs in local bookstores.
The grant was announced following a national call for submissions, during which Quay Books successfully presented a proposal designed to deliver an engaging community initiative. This recognition came as part of the broader Books At One Community Prize Fund, which will provide financial support to a total of 21 independent bookstores across Ireland.
These awards are focused on empowering local bookstores to serve as creative and social hubs within their communities. Each selected store is tasked with developing a unique initiative that reimagines the role of bookshops, enhancing their contributions to local culture and community life.
According to the Books At One initiative, the funding reflects a commitment to enriching the cultural landscape of Ireland through literature and community connection. Quay Books plans to use the grant to implement projects that not only promote reading but also foster a sense of belonging among residents.
This initiative highlights the importance of independent bookstores as vital community resources. By securing this funding, Quay Books joins a growing network of bookstores committed to making literature accessible and engaging for all, underscoring the role of books in bringing people together.
With the announcement of this funding, Quay Books is poised to make a significant impact in Limerick, reinforcing the idea that bookstores can play a critical role in community development and cultural enrichment. The bookstore’s plans will soon be unveiled as they embark on this exciting journey to connect with the community in new and creative ways.
