Kilkenny Mourns Sergeant Paddy Doyle, Community Hero Passes Away

URGENT UPDATE: Kilkenny is in mourning following the death of Sergeant Paddy Doyle (Retired), a dedicated member of the 9th Infantry Bn FCA, who served his country with unwavering loyalty. The respected community figure passed away, prompting an outpouring of tributes from friends and fellow servicemen.
Mr. Doyle, hailing from Castlecomer, not only committed his life to military service but also played a pivotal role in establishing the Castlecomer Brass and Reed Band. His contributions to both the armed forces and local culture have left a lasting impact on the community.
An army spokesperson remarked, “He served his country loyally and faithfully,” underscoring the profound respect held for Mr. Doyle. Tributes have flooded in, with one former comrade stating, “Gone but never forgotten by all of the 9th Bn members. With deepest sympathy to all his family and friends.” Another local resident described him as “a gentleman in every sense of the word,” reflecting the admiration felt throughout Kilkenny.
The funeral arrangements have been confirmed. Reposing will occur at Coady’s Funeral Home in Castlecomer on Tuesday, August 5, starting at 5 PM. The evening will conclude with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7 PM, allowing the community to pay their respects.
