President Higgins Welcomes Princess Anne Ahead of Dublin Horse Show

President Michael D. Higgins will host Princess Anne at Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin on August 16, 2023. This visit, described as a “courtesy call,” will take place at the official residence of the President of Ireland, located in Phoenix Park. The event precedes Princess Anne’s participation in the official opening day of the 150th Dublin Horse Show at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS).
The Dublin Horse Show is the largest summer equestrian event in the city, featuring approximately 1,600 horses and ponies competing across 168 classes and competitions over the course of five days. With a total prize fund exceeding €1.4 million, the event draws significant attention from horse enthusiasts and spectators alike.
During her visit, Princess Anne, who has a notable background in equestrian sports, will tour a special exhibition showcasing the history of the horse show. She will also engage with representatives from the Riding for the Disabled Association Ireland and Festina Lente, a charity based in Bray that provides equine-assisted learning and therapy services.
Princess Anne, who competed in the equestrian three-day event at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, will present rosettes to the winners in Class 20 of the Small Hunters competition. This involvement highlights her ongoing commitment to promoting equestrian sports and supporting related charities.
The Dublin Horse Show promises to be a thrilling experience for participants and attendees, marking a significant milestone in the city’s equestrian calendar.
