Urgent: Two Teenagers Hospitalized After Dublin Stabbing Attack

UPDATE: Two teenagers were hospitalized following a suspected stabbing in Dublin early this morning. The incident occurred around 5 AM on August 10, 2025, in the Tyrconnell Road area of Inchicore, where Gardaí are pursuing a definite line of inquiry into what has been described as a “planned attack.”
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, bringing the victims, aged 17 and 18, to St James’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Reports indicate that one victim suffered wounds to his chest and arm, while the other was stabbed in the leg and hand. Fortunately, one of the teenagers was released shortly after admission, while the other is expected to be discharged later today.
Witnesses are urgently sought as Gardaí have confirmed that no arrests have been made yet. The attack took place while the teenagers were asleep in a vehicle with two others when a car reportedly pulled up alongside them, and occupants from that vehicle launched a swift assault before fleeing the scene.
A Garda spokesperson stated, “Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident on Tyrconnell Road, Dublin 8, shortly after 5 AM today. Two males, both in their late teens, sustained injuries during the incident and were transported by ambulance to St James’s Hospital for treatment.”
Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing, with Kilmainham Gardaí actively seeking information from the public. They have obtained good-quality CCTV footage that may aid in identifying potential suspects and a “car of particular interest” related to the incident.
This violent event underscores the ongoing issue of knife crime in Dublin. Last week, Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan revealed that over 11,000 knives have been seized by Gardaí since 2020, with an alarming average of more than 2,000 knives confiscated annually.
As the situation develops, anyone with information is urged to contact Kilmainham Garda station at 01 6669700 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111. Stay tuned for updates as authorities work to bring those responsible to justice.
