Urgent Recall: Unsafe Counterfeit Labubu Dolls Circulate in Ireland

BREAKING NEWS: An urgent recall has been issued as counterfeit Labubu dolls, marketed as Pop Mart collectibles, are circulating throughout Ireland. Parents are advised to check their children’s toys immediately for potential safety hazards.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) announced today that these counterfeit dolls, known as The Monsters Big Into Energy, were confirmed to have been sold at Eason stores in Wexford, Gorey, and Enniscorthy between July 22 and July 25, 2023. Approximately 74 dolls have been identified as potentially unsafe after failing to meet safety regulations.
These whimsical vinyl toys have captured the hearts of children and collectors alike, becoming trendy accessories and status symbols. However, the CCPC warns that the affected dolls cannot be confirmed as authentic Pop Mart products, posing serious safety risks. Parents are urged to ensure their children do not possess any of these faulty toys.
The recall specifically targets dolls with the barcode 6931571071929, model number 01202810162, serial number 12402230008-06, and batch number 51006-2P1. Consumers who purchased an affected doll should stop using it immediately and return it for a full refund.
The CCPC stated,
“Eason Wexford, Gorey, and Enniscorthy is carrying out a recall of Pop Mart branded The Monsters Big Into Energy Vinyl Collectible Dolls. This may indicate that the product is unsafe.”
As this situation develops, parents are urged to remain vigilant and monitor toy purchases closely. The popularity of these Labubu dolls has surged, making it critical for consumers to act swiftly to ensure their children’s safety.
Stay tuned for further updates as authorities investigate the extent of this issue and take necessary actions to protect consumers. Share this news to keep fellow parents informed and aware of potential dangers lurking in their children’s toy boxes.
