Cork Store Sells Winning Lotto Ticket Worth €164,156

A lucky player in Cork has won a life-changing sum of €164,156 after purchasing a Quick Pick Lotto ticket at Lidl Ballyvolane on the Ballyhooly Road. This ticket matched five numbers and the bonus in the main draw, making the individual the biggest winner of the night during the draw held on September 20, 2023.
The winning numbers for the Lotto draw were 03, 07, 19, 33, 40, 45, with the bonus number being 20. Following the announcement, the National Lottery is encouraging all players in Cork to check their tickets carefully. The winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it secure.
According to Sarah Orr, a spokesperson for the National Lottery, “A Lotto player in Cork is certain to be celebrating today after matching five numbers and the bonus in Saturday night’s main Lotto draw to win an incredible €164,156.” She noted that over 84,000 players won prizes across the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws during the weekend.
While one player in Cork is celebrating their substantial win, the Lotto jackpot of €4,127,622 went unclaimed on the same night. As a result, the jackpot for the upcoming draw on September 27, 2023, is projected to reach approximately €4.5 million.
In a separate Lotto event, a family syndicate recently claimed the third highest jackpot in the history of Ireland’s Lotto, amounting to €17,008,295. This remarkable sum was won on August 27, 2023, after the family purchased their ticket online for the Wednesday night draw. They have opted to remain anonymous following their win.
The family expressed their astonishment at their good fortune. One member shared, “I wish I could say that the news has sunk in by now but I’m waiting for hidden cameras to pop out and tell us that this is all a big joke.” The experience of winning has left them in a state of disbelief, with another family member reflecting, “On the night of the draw, we were all together when the email came in and I checked the account. You always imagine that you’ll be jumping up and down, but we sat in silence and total disbelief.”
They described their experience at the National Lottery headquarters as surreal, saying, “I couldn’t tell you what else they said on the phone though, it’s all just a blur at this stage.”
As excitement builds in Cork, the National Lottery continues to urge players to verify their tickets. Those who believe they may have won can reach out to the National Lottery Prize Claims team at 1800 666 222 or via email at [email protected]. Arrangements will be made for winners to visit Lottery Headquarters to claim their prizes.
