Croom’s Christmas Market Set to Feature 50 Local Vendors
The village of Croom in County Limerick is preparing for its highly anticipated annual Christmas market, featuring 50 local vendors set to showcase their unique gifts. Scheduled for November 23, the market is organized by the Croom Community Development Association (CCDA) and aims to promote local artisans and producers.
This year, the event has seen a surge in interest, with twice as many vendors applying for a spot compared to previous years. Edel Fitzgerald, the event manager for CCDA, emphasized the effort involved in curating a diverse selection of stalls to ensure a wide range of products for attendees. The market will feature artists, crafters, and food producers from across County Limerick and beyond.
At the market’s launch, two vendors shared their excitement about the event. Shauna Smith, known for her jewellery and crystal decorations, highlighted the array of gift options available. She expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to connect with customers ahead of the holiday season. Another vendor, Lelia Riordan, specializes in personalized glassware and noted that the timing of the market is ideal for those seeking custom gifts.
David Hurley, chair of the CCDA, underscored the significance of the event, stating, “It is an important date in the calendar in Croom, an opportunity to see unique Christmas gifts but also a day where you can meet the neighbours and come and chat over a cup of tea and homemade cakes.”
The market promises more than just shopping. Attendees can look forward to a selection of refreshments, including seasonal hot chocolate and traditional non-alcoholic mulled wine available at the CCDA’s own stand. Fitzgerald encouraged visitors to make a day of the experience, suggesting a stroll along the River Maigue and dining at local establishment Aubergine, located in Croom Town Park.
Taking place at the Croom Community Centre on High Street from 11:00 to 15:00 on November 23, the Christmas market not only aims to support local businesses but also fosters community spirit. The event is expected to attract residents and visitors alike, creating a festive atmosphere as the holiday season approaches.
