Dealz Future in Ireland Secured as 68 UK Stores Close
The future of Dealz in Ireland remains secure as the company confirms the closure of 68 stores and two warehouses in the United Kingdom. This significant restructuring follows the acquisition of Poundland—the UK arm of Dealz—by Polish-based retail group Pepco in June 2025. The closures come as part of a strategic overhaul aimed at streamlining operations.
By the end of September 2025, approximately 57 stores had already shut their doors, with an additional 11 stores placed on hold for potential future closure. In response to the restructuring, several Poundland locations are offering substantial discounts, with sales reaching up to 40% off across various product categories.
Despite the closures, a spokesperson for Poundland has confirmed that the current restructuring plan only affects stores in the UK, while operations in the Republic of Ireland will not change. The company previously projected that it would operate between 650 to 700 stores in the UK, a reduction from the 800 locations that existed prior to the restructuring.
Poundland’s UK country manager, Darren MacDonald, addressed customer concerns regarding the store closures, stating, “We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers.” He emphasized that the special discounts would provide significant savings for customers while the stores prepare for closure.
The upcoming months will see further store closures, with Poundland committed to ensuring that customers can take advantage of these reductions on a wide range of products, including homewares, groceries, clothing, and health and beauty items.
As the company endeavors to leave its closing locations with pride, it looks forward to welcoming customers to the remaining stores across the UK. The restructuring reflects a broader effort to adapt to changing retail dynamics while maintaining a presence in Ireland, where Dealz continues to operate unaffected by the recent developments in the UK market.
