Former Ibec President Frank Gleeson Takes Helm at NACS

Frank Gleeson has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) in Washington D.C. This announcement marks a significant step in Gleeson’s career, as he takes over from outgoing president and CEO Henry Armour. Gleeson is set to become only the fourth person to lead the organization in its 64-year history.
Prior to this role, Gleeson served as the president of Ibec, an influential business advocacy group in Ireland. He also held the position of CEO at Aramark, where he gained extensive experience in the food service and facilities management sectors. Gleeson’s leadership is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives to NACS, which represents retailers and suppliers in the convenience store industry.
The NACS, founded in 1957, has played a crucial role in advocating for the interests of convenience store operators across the United States. The organization provides its members with essential resources, including industry research, networking opportunities, and educational programs. Gleeson’s appointment is seen as a pivotal moment for NACS as it continues to navigate the evolving landscape of retail.
In his new role, Gleeson will face various challenges, including addressing the impact of changing consumer behaviors and the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the retail sector. His extensive background in both leadership and operations is expected to be instrumental as NACS works to enhance its support for its members during these challenging times.
Gleeson expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “I am honored to join NACS and work alongside its dedicated team and members to advance our industry.” His appointment is effective immediately, and he will be taking the helm as the organization prepares for its upcoming annual conference, which draws thousands of attendees from across the retail landscape.
As NACS looks to the future, Gleeson’s leadership is poised to play a critical role in shaping the direction of the convenience store industry in the United States. The organization continues to adapt to the demands of a rapidly changing market, and Gleeson’s experience will be key in navigating these transformations.
