Kilkenny’s Waterford Road Improvement Project Set for Construction

The local authority in Kilkenny City has officially announced the progression of the Waterford Road Pedestrian and Cyclist Improvement Scheme to the construction phase. This development follows the successful completion of detailed design and planning processes. The initiative is part of the broader Active Travel Programme aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure in Kilkenny.

Additionally, the plan includes a dedicated school bus bay serving the Kilkenny School Project and the installation of two new pedestrian crossings to enhance access for residents in the Springfields and Hollybank areas.

Future phases of the project will focus on further enhancements along the Waterford Road. This will involve the installation of upgraded footpaths and cycle facilities extending from the Bohernatounish Road roundabout to the Nuncio Road Roundabout. The later stages will also include safer roundabout crossings, ensuring pedestrian and cyclist facilities are available on all approach arms, as well as a school bus bay serving Presentation Secondary School.
