Sean Ward Fish Exports Ltd, a prominent player in the seafood industry, is looking to fill a vital role for a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager. The company, established in 1998 and located in the fishing port of Killybegs, Ireland, specializes in the processing and exporting of pelagic fish. Due to ongoing growth, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Europe’s leading pelagic processors and suppliers.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to oversee the accounting functions of the main trading companies within the group. This role will involve regular reporting to senior management and the company’s directors. Key duties include:
– Implementing effective procedures and systems to maintain comprehensive books and records, ensuring robust internal accounting controls are in place.
– Preparing detailed management accounts that will include profit and loss statements and balance sheets, along with comparisons to previous years and budget forecasts, highlighting significant variances.
Additionally, the Financial Accountant/Finance Manager will manage and direct the accounting staff, ensuring smooth operations within the finance department. The role also entails overseeing the timely preparation and submission of essential tax returns, including VAT, PAYE/PRSI, RCT, and Corporation Tax returns, as well as other statutory requirements mandated by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) or other authorities.
Additional Duties and Application Process
Other responsibilities will include maintaining up-to-date company secretarial matters and managing the payroll function. The candidate will liaise with auditors regarding the preparation and audit of annual statutory accounts and related matters. Flexibility to assist with various internal office tasks, such as payments and receivables, may also be required.
