Smyths Daleside, a leading manufacturer of animal feed in the Northwest of Ireland, is expanding its team. The company, which has been milling since 1865, is inviting applications for the position of Sales Representative based in Co. Tyrone. This role offers a permanent position at the company’s Ballindrait mill, aimed at enhancing both existing customer relations and pursuing new business opportunities.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Sales Representative will focus on driving growth strategies to boost feed sales. Key responsibilities include providing customers with technical advice on ruminant nutrition, diet formulation, and feeding practices to optimize milk production and live weight gain. The representative will also work to increase market share within the designated sales territory and identify new business development opportunities.

Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with both the sales and technical teams. This collaboration will assist in the development of a product range tailored to meet the specific feeding requirements of customers. Understanding the needs of farmers and introducing suitable products and services will be essential for success in this role.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants for the Sales Representative position should possess a solid understanding of the agri food industry and demonstrate an interest in agricultural practices. Previous sales experience is necessary, along with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Candidates must be IT literate and capable of working independently while also thriving in a team environment.

Attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy workload are crucial for this role. A full driving licence is required, and candidates with a third-level qualification in agriculture or a related discipline will be preferred. Experience and knowledge in ruminant production and nutrition will also be advantageous.
