Conor McGregor and his fiancée, Dee Devlin, are reportedly planning to marry in a private ceremony in Rome before Christmas. Friends of the couple indicate that they are aiming for a wedding date of December 12, 2023, with the historic St Peter’s Basilica as a possible venue. Another option is the nearby Cappella del Caro, which accommodates up to 100 guests.

The couple initially considered the Sistine Chapel for their nuptials, a site renowned for its artwork and significance, but discovered that weddings are not permitted there. The couple, both devout Catholics, view a wedding at the Vatican as a dream come true.

McGregor, aged 37, and Devlin, aged 38, have been together since 2008 and became engaged on August 8, 2020. They share four children: one daughter and three sons. Their family resides in Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland, where McGregor’s mother lives next door.

Recent events have cast a shadow over the MMA fighter’s public image. In July 2022, McGregor lost an appeal against a verdict that found him guilty of sexually assaulting Nikita Hand. He was ordered to pay €248,000 in damages and legal fees, significantly impacting his reputation and business ventures. Following the verdict, several brands, including his own whiskey brand, Proper No Twelve, distanced themselves from him.

Despite these challenges, a source close to McGregor has confirmed the couple’s desire to marry this December. “They are both staunch Catholics and it is their dream to wed there,” the source stated. “They may have to settle for the Cappella del Caro, which can accommodate 100 people beside St Peter’s Basilica.”

Weddings at St Peter’s Basilica occur on select weekdays, specifically Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, at 10:30 AM. Wednesdays are reserved for the Pope’s weekly mass and audience, making them an unsuitable day for ceremonies.

In the midst of their wedding plans, McGregor recently faced legal issues regarding a dispute with former sparring partner Artem Lobov. Lobov claims that McGregor promised him a five percent share in the Proper No Twelve whiskey brand for his contributions in establishing the business. A hearing scheduled for last week was adjourned due to the illness of a key witness, with proceedings unlikely to resume until March or April 2024.

As the couple prepares for their special day, the public remains captivated by their journey, with many eager to see how McGregor will navigate his personal and professional challenges moving forward.
