A joyful celebration unfolded on July 10, 2023, as Cork couple Katlyn Buckley and Alan Devereaux exchanged vows in a picturesque outdoor ceremony at the Rochestown Park Hotel. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple incorporated a variety of fun and games into their special day, creating an unforgettable experience for all.

The ceremony took place in the hotel’s garden, where the couple enjoyed beautiful weather with temperatures reaching the high 20s. “We wanted an outdoor ceremony with fun and games, and that’s exactly what we got — the weather was in the high 20s with the sun splitting the stones,” said Katlyn. Following the vows, guests were treated to a drinks reception in the hotel’s Atrium, before transitioning to an evening celebration in the Estuary Suite.

Katlyn and Alan’s wedding was officiated by Carol Cotter of Spiritual Ceremonies, with a special musical performance by Willow Buckley, Katlyn’s cousin. The festivities kicked off with a cheeky shot of sambuca, marking their first drink as a married couple.

Having met through mutual friends 12 years ago, the couple from Bweeng, Co Cork, has shared a deep bond since their teenage years. Their engagement, which took place in September 2021, was equally enchanting. Katlyn described the moment as “magical,” recalling how they had planned a trip to New York and Las Vegas that was ultimately canceled due to pandemic restrictions. Instead, they opted for a holiday in Puerto Rico, where Alan proposed on the beach.

Their wedding day was a family affair, with Katlyn’s parents, Fiona and Anthony, and grandmother Rose joining in the celebrations. The bridal party included Katlyn’s sister, Emma Murphy, as maid of honour, alongside bridesmaids Michelle Hourigan and Abbie Devereaux, while Kayla-mae O’Sullivan served as flower girl. Alan’s brother, Jordan Devereaux, acted as best man, supported by his brother Dylan Devereaux and friends Derry Falvey and Anthony Fitzgerald. Katlyn’s cousin Isaac Boyd was a junior groomsman.

The couple infused their celebration with lively games, including giant dominoes, pitch and putt, and beanbag-tossing. “The games were the best part of the day for us – besides getting to spend it with family and friends,” Katlyn noted. Guests also enjoyed rounds of Mr & Mrs during the meal, music bingo, and a treasure hunt-style game called Bring Me.

Katlyn selected her dream wedding dress from Wed2B in Dublin, while Alan found his suit at Suits.ie in Cork. Hair and makeup were expertly handled by Nic’s Pin Ups, with floral arrangements by Florist 4 U. Photography was captured by the husband-and-wife duo Sheenagh Morley and Barry Keating of Bismark Photography, and videography was provided by Antony Fleming Productions. The couple’s entertainment was ensured by local musicians The Boogie Band and DJ Dean Ahern, keeping the dance floor alive throughout the night.

Following their joyous celebration, the newlyweds are set to embark on a honeymoon that includes destinations such as Miami, Cancun, and Las Vegas, marking the beginning of their new life together.
