Jonathan Van Ness, the multifaceted American comedian and celebrity hairstylist known for his role on the hit show *Queer Eye*, shared personal insights and future aspirations in a recent interview. Van Ness, who has established his own haircare brand, JVN, expressed a keen interest in styling the hair of British singer Lily Allen, stating, “I have a lot of questions.”

Living in Los Angeles with his husband and their pets, Van Ness reflected on his happiest moments, which he attributes to the past five years, despite the challenges posed by the current political climate in the United States. He commented on the growing trend of American citizens relocating from the country, particularly highlighting the experiences of fellow celebrity Rosie O’Donnell, who has faced significant scrutiny under the previous administration.

In a candid discussion about his personal struggles, Van Ness admitted that his concern for public perception often keeps him awake at night. He noted the ongoing societal challenges, particularly regarding reproductive rights, referencing Ireland’s recent advancements in this area. “I remember Ireland passing the right to abortion not that long ago, and little did I know that we were going to [go the other way],” he said, indicating his concern over the regressive trends in some parts of the world.

When asked about his insecurities, Van Ness mentioned his tendency to care too much about what others think. He also described his ADHD as both a strength and a challenge, calling it his “superpower” but also acknowledging its potential to overwhelm him. “The things that make us special and unique are the things that can drive us outside of our window of tolerance,” he explained.

In the interview, he revealed a whimsical side, sharing that if he were on death row, he might opt for a meal reminiscent of his childhood, possibly including Taco Bell and ice cream sandwiches. He humorously added that he would consider not accepting a meal at all, inspired by the story of infamous figure Aileen Wuornos.

Looking to the future, Van Ness expressed a desire to create a culture-shifting stand-up special and pursue an acting career. He will bring his show, *Hot & Healed*, to the Ambassador Theatre on December 2, 2023, where he aims to engage and entertain a live audience.

The interview also touched on Van Ness’s admiration for media mogul Oprah Winfrey. He expressed a wish to share a pint with her, believing she would know some remarkable places to visit.

In a light-hearted moment, he recounted an embarrassing experience during a performance in Dublin where he mistakenly criticized Adele in front of an audience that clearly favored the singer. His quick recovery and humor helped salvage the show, demonstrating his resilience and ability to connect with his fans.

As he continues to navigate his career, Jonathan Van Ness remains committed to advocating for important social issues while sharing his journey with authenticity and humor. His vibrant personality and commitment to his craft continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
