Westlife Expands Dublin Concert Series to 10 Dates Amid High Demand
Irish boyband Westlife will perform a total of ten nights at Dublin’s 3Arena following the addition of five new shows due to overwhelming demand. Initially announced last Friday, the concert series is set for September 22 to 26, 2024, as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations. Tickets for the newly added dates on September 15, 16, 18, 19, and 20 will go on sale on Thursday at 09:00 local time.
With this extension, Westlife’s performances at the renowned Irish venue will reach a remarkable total of 79 shows, marking a record that no other artist has achieved in the arena’s history. The band, known for hits such as Flying Without Wings, Swear It Again, and You Raise Me Up, has become one of the most successful pop groups from Ireland, having amassed over three billion streams globally.
Record-Breaking Achievements and Special Celebrations
Throughout their career, Westlife has released 36 number one albums worldwide and 14 UK number one singles, positioning them just behind legends like Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The group’s total record sales exceed 55 million, and they boast more than a billion views on YouTube, with over six million fans attending their concerts globally. Since reuniting in 2019, Westlife has toured extensively, performing over 200 shows in 30 countries.
Reflecting on their upcoming Dublin concerts, band members Kian Egan, Shane Filan, and Nicky Byrne expressed their excitement. In a joint statement, they said, “There’s no better feeling than coming home to Dublin. This city has been at the heart of our story from the very beginning, and to kick off our 25th anniversary celebrations with five nights at the 3Arena feels incredibly special. Every time we play here, the crowd’s energy is electric. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all and make more amazing memories together.”
Despite the excitement for the concerts, Westlife will perform without member Mark Feehily, who has temporarily stepped back from touring for health reasons. Feehily has been open about his health struggles, including a serious battle with sepsis during the Covid-19 lockdown and a hernia that required surgery. In February 2024, he announced his decision to focus on recovery, and his absence from the Dublin shows was confirmed in a statement released by the group in June.
Upcoming Performances and Special Concerts
In addition to the Dublin shows, Westlife will celebrate their quarter-century milestone with two sold-out concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 27 and 28, 2024. The band will perform reimagined versions of their classic hits alongside the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. These performances are set to be recorded for screening in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on November 29, 2024.
Tickets for the Dublin concerts will be available through ticketmaster.ie, starting Thursday at 09:00. As Westlife prepares for this momentous occasion, fans eagerly anticipate the opportunity to relive their beloved songs and create new memories with the iconic band.
