Wynne Evans Ends Engagement with Liz Brookes Following Proposal

Welsh tenor Wynne Evans has reportedly ended his engagement to Liz Brookes, just weeks after proposing during a romantic getaway in Morocco. This development comes as Wynne hinted at a difficult relationship during a recent Facebook Live session, where he described the romance as “not healthy.”
Rumors regarding the couple’s separation began circulating last month when fans noticed that Wynne had removed his engagement announcement from Instagram and stopped following Liz. Sources suggest that this split may be permanent. According to information shared with the Daily Mail, the pressures of Wynne’s busy schedule, which includes launching a new restaurant in Carmarthen and a radio show, contributed significantly to their breakup.
An insider revealed, “Wynne and Liz broke off their engagement a few weeks ago. The pressure of his new business ventures took its toll and they had a big fallout.” Although there was initial hope for reconciliation, the insider added, “With Wynne actively trying to date again and going public describing the relationship as ‘not healthy’, it’s safe to say they’ve split for good this time.”
The couple’s engagement was announced in June 2024 when Wynne shared photos of the proposal on Instagram. He expressed his excitement with a caption that read: “Big news… I got engaged! This weekend in Morocco, somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz – and she said yes! (No take-backs, I’ve checked.)” He went on to praise Liz, stating, “She’s clever, she’s kind, she’s got excellent taste in men.”
Liz Brookes, a successful events company owner, first met Wynne when he was booked to perform at one of her corporate events. Throughout his time on Strictly Come Dancing, she was a regular presence in the audience, often supporting him with encouraging posts online. Wynne has credited Liz with inspiring his fitness journey, mentioning during a podcast, “I go out running with my girlfriend and stuff and I feel much better for it.”
This split occurs during a tumultuous year for Wynne. Earlier, he faced backlash following a controversial remark made during a live tour of Strictly Come Dancing, which led to his departure from BBC Radio Wales. Wynne clarified that the comment was aimed at fellow contestant Jamie Borthwick, not presenter Janette Manrara, but felt compelled to apologize. Since then, he has launched his own online radio program and opened a wine bar and eatery named Welsh House by Wynne, where he aims to feature dishes inspired by his experience on the cooking show MasterChef.
As Wynne embarks on this new chapter, it remains to be seen how his professional and personal life will evolve in the coming months.
