Blood Donations Surpass 1,000 at Limerick Clinic in 2023
The Caherdavin blood donation clinic in Limerick recorded an impressive total of 1,145 blood donations last year. This significant effort has the potential to save or greatly enhance the lives of an estimated 3,435 patients, according to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
Blood donations are an essential resource for a variety of medical situations, including cancer treatments, surgeries, and emergencies resulting from accidents. Additionally, they play a crucial role in aiding mothers who experience complications during childbirth. Each unit of donated blood can benefit up to three individuals, underscoring the vital impact of community contributions.
Upcoming Blood Donation Opportunities
The next blood donation clinic is scheduled for August 21, 2023, at the Caherdavin Greenhills Hotel. The clinic will operate from 16:20 to 19:40. Individuals interested in donating blood can make appointments by contacting the Irish Blood Transfusion Service at 1800 222 111.
Both new and returning donors are encouraged to participate, highlighting the community’s ongoing commitment to supporting those in need. The efforts of local donors are instrumental in ensuring an adequate supply of blood for patients requiring these life-saving resources.
