Cian Ducrot Advocates for Men’s Mental Health During Tour

Singer-songwriter Cian Ducrot has highlighted the importance of addressing men’s mental health, emphasizing the challenges many face in seeking support. Currently on a European tour promoting his successful album Little Dreaming, Ducrot took a moment to discuss the findings of a new report released by the men’s health and suicide-prevention charity Movember.
Speaking to the Irish Independent and via his Instagram, Ducrot noted that “talking to your friends is probably the hardest thing to do.” He stressed the difficulty of opening up, stating, “It’s hard to feel like you’re just going to burden someone’s day or life.” His personal experiences amplify his message; Ducrot has lost two friends to suicide, which has intensified his understanding of the stigma surrounding mental health among men.
The report, titled The Real Face of Men’s Health, reveals concerning statistics about preventable deaths among men in Ireland. Alarmingly, it indicates that men account for nearly 80% of suicides in the country. Such figures underline the urgency of creating a supportive environment for men to discuss their mental health struggles.
Despite his fame, with over 4.5 million followers on TikTok and more than 1 million on Instagram, Ducrot advises against the use of social media as a coping mechanism. “To be honest, my biggest piece of advice would be to not have social media,” he remarked. He acknowledged that, due to his career obligations, he cannot simply delete his accounts, but he would choose to do so if given the chance.
Movember, an annual global campaign held every November, focuses on men’s health issues, including mental health and suicide prevention. Participants often “grow a Mo” (moustache) starting on November 1, while others raise funds by walking or running 60 km throughout the month or hosting events called “Mo-ments.” The money raised supports various health programs and research initiatives worldwide.
Looking ahead, Movember has pledged €1 million for real-world community men’s health research starting from 2026, along with an investment of €200,000 in awareness campaigns. This commitment underscores the organization’s dedication to improving men’s health and tackling the significant mental health challenges they face.
Ducrot’s candid approach to mental health serves as an important reminder of the need for open dialogue and support. His message resonates particularly in a time when mental health awareness is critical, reminding us all of the value of reaching out to those around us.
