Writer and broadcaster Manchán Magan has announced the cancellation of his upcoming show at The Everyman Theatre in Cork. This decision follows a recent setback in his battle with prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2023. The theatre informed ticket holders on Tuesday that all dates for Magan’s tour of Arán & Im have been cancelled, with full refunds being processed for affected customers.

Magan’s show was scheduled for November 10, 2023, and ticket holders have been advised about the refund process. Those who purchased tickets online or via telephone using a credit card will receive automatic refunds. Customers who bought tickets in person with cash or card will be contacted by the theatre to arrange their refunds. In an email to ticket holders, the theatre expressed its support for Magan, stating, “We wish Manchán all the best with his treatment and if you do have any queries on this matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us.”

Recently, Magan appeared on Brendan O’Connor’s show on RTÉ Radio 1, where he discussed his experience with cancer and its impact on his life. He shared his thoughts on the unpredictability of his condition, saying, “It’s a lovely thing to know that I can plan my last few, is it months, or years? We don’t know. We might get a year or two, and definitely get another few months.”

During the interview, he reflected on his deep connection to the spirit world, recalling how his parents recognized his imaginative nature. He described how they allowed him a space in the garden to explore his interests in herbs and flowers, stating, “I would just be hearing the spirit world, I would just be communicating with them. It was just these loving voices.”

Magan’s journey highlights the challenges faced by those living with serious health conditions, and his openness about his experience resonates with many. As he navigates this difficult period, his fans and the public continue to rally around him, offering support and well wishes during his treatment.
